Description: Patrolman Littrell was on his way home from work in his private car and in civilian clothes when he observed three men loitering and drinking. Patrolman Littrell exited the vehicle, approached the men, showed his badge and instructed them to stop drinking and move their vehicle off of the highway. One of the men opened fire, striking Patrolman Littrell in the chest and hip. Patrolman Littrell returned fire, fatally wounding the suspect. Patrolman Littrell succumbed to his injuries the next day. The two other suspects were arrested.
