Description: Chief Lilly was attempting to arrest a man for causing a disturbance when the suspect fled. Chief Lilly tackled him and they rolled across the floor. Chief Lilly's revolver dropped from his pocket. The suspect seized the weapon and fatally shot Chief Lilly in the abdomen with his own gun. The suspect fled the scene but was captured by an angry mob of citizens and lynched.
