Description: Officer Lanier was stabbed in the neck with a 10 inch knife by a mentally deranged man. Officer Lanier had responded to a call of a mentally deranged man wielding a knife and threatening to kill someone. Officer Lanier was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead of a severed artery. The suspect was shot and placed in protective custody.
