Description: Chief Lynch and Officer Lichfield were returning to the police station when their patrol car was struck head on by another vehicle. The vehicle that struck the patrol car was traveling on the wrong side of the road. Chief Lynch, the passenger in the patrol car, was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries a few hours later. Officer Lichfield was injured in the accident.
