Description: Officer Laird responded to a disturbance call where a suspect was firing a rifle in a local neighborhood. When Officer Laird arrived on the scene, he was shot in the chest and abdomen without warning by the suspect with a high powered assault rifle. Four officers were transported to a local hospital where Officer Laird was pronounced dead. The other three officers survived their wounds.
