Description: Deputy Sheriff Litz was driving south on Hellman Avenue when his patrol car was struck by a train while crossing the railroad tracks. Deputy Litz was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Reserve Officer Leland Graves, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was injured but recovered. Officer Graves told investigators that he did not hear a train whistle before the crash and that the windows of the patrol car were open.
