Description: Police Officer Mumaw drowned in the Cumberland River in Nashville, Tennessee while attempting to save a suicidal woman who was attempting to drive her vehicle into the river. The woman was impaired and was on probation for a previous DUI conviction. Officer Mumaw was pulled into the river after the driver put the car into gear at the edge of a boat ramp. The woman was later found on the riverbank and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide.
