Description: Patrolman Moreno was shot as he and his partner attempted to make contact with two persons suspected of breaking into a vehicle. Patrolman Moreno and his partner attempted to speak with the suspects and one of the suspects fired on the officers. Patrolman Moreno was shot in the head and was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the following morning. The second officer was also shot but survived his injuries. Two suspects were taken into custody.
