Description: On July 14, 2017, Lieutenant Meyer was inadvertently struck by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol car during a pursuit. Lieutenant Meyer responded to the call and was deploying spike sticks on the road when he was struck by a patrol car that was attempting to avoid the spike sticks while pursuing a fleeing, impaired suspect. Lieutenant Meyer was transported to the hospital where he remained until he succumbed to his injuries a week later on July 24th. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with first degree murder.
