Description: Deputy McLellan attempted to arrest a man for stealing corn in Bryant County, Oklahoma. As the man was leaving the cornfield he saw Deputy McLellan and opened fire. Deputy McLellan was hit fatally in the right shoulder, the bullet passing through his body and exiting his left side. The next morning the suspect was shot and killed by a posse as he tried to escape.
