Description: Police Officer Matthies was shot when he approached a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a restaurant and questioned the three occupants. When Officer Matthies attempted to place the suspects under arrest, one of the suspects shot him in the chest. Officer Matthies died at the scene. The three suspects were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
