Description: Deputy Morris and Deputy Alonzo Tyler were fatally wounded as they pursued Constable C.B. Oaks for public intoxication and reckless driving. The constable led the deputies to his home where they were ambushed by seven members of the Oaks family. Deputy Morris was shot in the chest and face and died at the scene. Deputy Tyler was shot in the left shoulder and died on the operating table. The constable also died and seven men were arrested.
