Description: Investigator Mahaffey was shot and killed as he and other deputies attempted to serve a warrant for rape at a suspect?s residence. The suspect was hiding in a closet and shot Investigator Mahaffey as he approached. Investigator Mahaffey was struck by one round below his vest. Investigator Mahaffey was transported to the hospital where he died shortly after arrival. Responding officers fatally shot the suspect.
