Description: Officers Monaghan, Robert Endler and Endel Jurman were called to a Sears store because the cashier was suspicious of a couple attempting to cash a check with fraudulent identification. As the Officers questioned the couple, the man drew a gun and began firing. Officers Endler and Monaghan were shot in the head and died at the scene. Officer Jurman was wounded in the chest and arm. The suspects were charged with murder and received respective sentences of life in prison and the death penalty.
