Description: Captain Morgan was shot while attempting to serve a warrant on a suspect wanted for terrorist threats. Deputy Billy Walls and Deputy Sammy Brown were also on hand to assist in serving the warrant. The suspect was a seventy year old cancer patient. He allowed the three deputies to enter his houseboat before shooting them with a rifle. Deputy Walls was pronounced dead at the scene. Although wounded critically, Captain Morgan and Deputy Brown returned fire, killing the suspect. Captain Morgan remained in the hospital for three weeks before succumbing to his injuries. Deputy Brown recovered from his injuries.
