Description: Detective Mundy was fatally wounded in an exchange of gunfire while attempting to apprehend a suspect who killed Deputy Sheriff Melvin Cooper Fleming. The suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement officers. The suspect was a paroled convict who had previously served six years for his involvement in the deaths of Kentucky Highway Patrolmen Robert Rowland and J.P. Hays.
