Description: Officer Masterson was responding to a disturbance call and was riding in the back of a horse-drawn patrol wagon. The horses, while crossing the tracks, became frightened by the vibrations of an oncoming train and stopped on the tracks. Officer Masterson leapt from the wagon, slipped and fell into the path of another oncoming train. Officer Masterson was dragged for about twenty feet. He died at the hospital of multiple injuries.
