Description: Officer Marano was struck and killed while placing spike strips to stop a vehicle being pursued by members of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. DPS officers began pursuing the vehicle after the suspect vehicle's license plates were reported stolen by dispatchers. After the pursuit reached speeds of over 100 mph, Officer Marano was placing spike strips when he was struck. The suspect was intoxicated and under the influence of drugs.
