Description: Deputy Jailer Morrell was killed as he completed the task of feeding the prisoners in the Thurston County Jail. A prisoner who was waiting to be transferred to the Walla Walla prison facility struck Deputy Morrell in the head with a metal pipe. Deputy Morrell attempted to draw his service weapon the suspect struck him again with the pipe. The suspect then took Deputy Morrell's service weapon and shot him fatally several times.
