Description: Deputy McElderry was accidentally struck and killed while assisting in a road block. Wapello County Sheriff's Deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit on the south side of US Highway 63. Deputy McElderry put down spike sticks as the suspect's car sped past the road block. When Deputy McElderry went to retrieve the spikes, he was struck by a Wapello County Deputy's vehicle. Deputy McElderry was pronounced dead at the scene. Inadvertent action.
