Description: Officer Meaney and his partner were called to investigate a chicken coop that was frequented by robbers. When leaving the coop Officer Meaney was shot in the leg (hitting an artery) by a neighbor who mistook him for a thief and fired his high-powered rifle at the "suspect." Meaney bled to death at the scene. The neighbor was charged with Officer Meaney's murder.
