Description: Deputy Magruder and Deputy James V. Arnaud were shot and killed with a 9mm pistol while attempting to serve a psychiatric petition on an individual in a home in Aldephi, Maryland. After the deputies were invited into the home of the suspect, Deputy Arnaud was shot in the throat and Deputy Magruder was shot in the back of the head. Deputy Arnaud was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputy Magruder was transported to the Prince George's County Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The suspect was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
