Description: Chief Mendoza was killed when his patrol car was struck head-on-by a drunk driver. Chief Mendoza was on routine patrol when the suspect drunk driver veered into his traffic lane causing the collision. Chief Mendoza, who was wearing his seatbelt, was killed instantly. The driver was convicted of felony murder and sentenced to 90 years in prison.
