Description: Police Officer McKnight was shot while off-duty as he attempted to stop a robbery in progress at a convenience market. Officer McKnight was standing behind the suspect in the checkout line when the man pulled a gun and demanded money from the cashier. Officer McKnight followed the suspects outside and attempted to arrest them. A struggle ensued and the suspect shot Officer McKnight. Officer McKnight's son witnessed the incident, called the police and provided the license plate number. Officer McKnight was transported to the hospital where he died. The two suspects were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
