Description: Auxiliary Police Officers Marshalik and Nicholas Pekearo were shot and killed while pursuing a suspect who had opened fire in a downtown Greenwich Village pizza shop, killing one person. As the officers pursued the suspect, the suspect suddenly turned and shot both unarmed officers with a semiautomatic firearm. Several NYPD officers arrived and killed the suspect, who had several weapons and more than 100 rounds of ammunition. Five officers were also wounded in the exchange of gunfire with the suspect.
