Description: Officer Mulvihill was shot by four members of John Dillinger's gang. Patrolman Martin O'Brien was also killed in this incident. Officers Mulvihill and O'Brien were on patrol when they came across four men standing next to a car. Without warning, the suspects opened fire striking each officer several times. The men then fled the scene. John Dillinger and his gang murdered seven other officers during the 1930's: Officer Howard Wagner, Trooper Eugene Teague, Sheriff Jesse Sarber, Patrolman William O'Malley, Chief Franklin Culp, Detective Henry Perrow and Undersheriff Charles Cavanagh. John Dillinger was killed in a shootout with FBI Agents on July 22, 1934.
