Description: On April 10, 1965, Police Officer Hooper, Police Officer Frank Mancini and Reserve Officer Harold Wintrow were shot while attempting to arrest two robbery suspects. One of the suspects gained control of Officer Mancini's weapon while resisting arrest and shot the officers. Officer Hooper died at the scene. Reserve Officer Wintrow was paralyzed and died of his injuries on August 27, 1993. Officer Mancini, who was shot with his own gun, was also permanently disabled and died of his injuries on January 23, 2012 (20-E: 28). The suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
