Description: Officer Mydlarz, of the Great Meadow Correctional Facility, responded to the mess hall to assist other officers stop a violent fight between two inmates. Officer Mydlarz and another officer physically controlled one of the struggling inmates, put him in an arm hold and escorted him from the scene. When Officer Mydlarz went back to the mess hall, he collapsed due to shortness of breath. Officer Mydlarz was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
