Description: Deputies Martin and George Wallis went to quiet a disturbance at a dancehall. Angered, two brothers left the dance and returned armed with a Winchester and shotgun. The men opened fire on both deputies. Deputy Martin was struck in the arm and hip and died at the scene. Deputy Wallis was shot but not fatally. The suspects fled and were not captured.
