Description: Deputies Mannon and JR McDonald went in search of five men who had robbed an encampment of $400. As the deputies approached the hideout, they were ambushed and Deputy Mannon was shot in the abdomen. The suspects escaped. Deputy Mannon underwent surgery but did not recover from his wound and died two weeks later in the hospital.
