Description: Killed by two members of another police force. Officers McGuire and Deerfield approached a milk truck that was standing without lights in front of the newspaper office to ticket it for violation of an ordinance. They were approached by two of the "Regular" officers, Julius Lawson and James Kirkpatrick, who challenged the right of the "Deposed" officers to ticket the vehicle. Lawson and Kirkpatrick opened fire and Patrolmen Deerfield and McGuire were both shot and killed.
