Description: Deputy McCain was ambushed and stabbed several times by an insane prisoner. Deputy McCain managed to get away from the prisoner into a safe area in the jail. Deputy McCain was transported by train to the St. Joseph Hospital where he remained until his death two days later. The prisoner escaped but was captured by law enforcement officers the next day.
