Description: Deputy Minnick was shot as he checked a pheasant hunter for a license. As the man held the shotgun cradled in his arms and reached into his pocket to get the license, the shotgun discharged, striking Deputy Minnick in the stomach. Deputy Minnick died as he was being carried home. The county coroner ruled that the shooting was accidental and the hunter was not charged.
