Description: Deputies Mitchell and McDermott along with several other deputies and investigators were attempting to stop illegal gambling in Memphis and Shelby Counties. While raiding a club called 42 DeSoto, Deputies Mitchell and McDermott were shot and killed. More than 40 gamblers were arrested as a result of the raid.
