Description: Sheriff May and City Marshal August Leker were fatally shot as they attempted to disarm a suspect who was threatening to kill a man who intended to elope with his 16 year old daughter. Sheriff May was shot in the head and died at the scene. Marshal Leker was fatally shot in the abdomen but returned fire and wounded their assailant who died several days later.
