Description: Border Patrol Inspector Mankin was shot when a service rifle accidentally discharged as he and two fellow officers were on patrol in Webb County, Texas. As the officers entered the patrol vehicle, a rifle fell to the floor, struck the running board and discharged, striking Inspector Mankin in the head.
