Description: Marshal Murphy and Deputy George Andrews attempted to arrest a suspect wanted for stealing a team of mules. The officers were on their way to the residence when they met the suspect on the road. At the sight of the lawmen, the suspect raised his shotgun and fired. Marshal Murphy was shot in the chest and died on the scene. The suspect fled but was captured later that month.
