Description: Detective Sergeant McCulloch, with Detective Gleeson Amboy, was transporting a prisoner from Big Rapids to Flint. En route, they encountered a vehicle straddling the center line. Detective Sergeant McCulloch honked and tried to pass, but the other vehicle swerved into the left lane, forcing the officers' vehicle off the road. The vehicle overturned and landed in a water-filled ditch. Detective Sergeant McCulloch suffered a fractured vertebrae and a ruptured spleen. He died two weeks later as a result of complications, following removal of his spleen.
