Description: Patrolman Malloy was struck by a suspect as he and a second officer lay a 40-foot spike studded strip of leather (stop sticks) in an attempt to halt speeding vehicles. Patrolman Malloy was dragged over 125 feet and died at the scene. Two teenage suspects, who were joyriding in a stolen car, were arrested. The driver was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 10 โ€“ 20 years in prison. The passenger was sentenced to 18 months on a lesser charge.
