Description: Patrolman McCoy was killed in an automobile accident while patrolling in South Abilene. A suspect driver was speeding in the westbound lane when he hit a dip in the road and spun out of control. The suspect's vehicle crossed the center line and struck Patrolman McCoy's department vehicle on the driver's side. Patrolman McCoy was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
