Description: Deputy Matthews was shot when he and two other deputies responded to a suspicious person call involving a man with a history known mental illness. When the officers received no answer after knocking on the door, Deputy Matthews looked into a window. The suspect opened fire, shooting Deputy Matthews in the head. The suspect was later killed by responding officers.
