Description: Deputy Marshal Mullins was shot and killed while trying to quell an uprising of striking miners. The miners were upset about a restraining order placed on them by a judge. Marshal Mullins and six other marshals were attempting to remove miners who were barricaded in a hotel when the miners opened fire upon the marshals. Marshal Mullins was shot and killed in the gunfire. The hotel was burned in the process and three miners also died.
