Description: Patrolman McDowell suffered a fatal heart attack while attempting to arrest a suspect. While on routine patrol, Patrolman McDowell and his partner observed a group of disorderly young men hanging out in front of a local sandwich shop. When the store owner asked them to move, one of the suspects became belligerent. Patrolman McDowell and his partner exited their patrol vehicle and approached the suspect. The suspect fled with the officers in pursuit. The officers caught the suspect and struggled to subdue him before placing him under arrest. Moments later, Patrolman McDowell began having symptoms of a heart attack. Patrolman McDowell was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
