Description: Deputy Miller and Deputy Fred D'Amore died in an automobile crash when their van collided with another vehicle at an intersection and overturned. The deputies were transporting six convicts in a prison van to the Sing Sing facility. A third deputy, who was driving the van with the siren activated, swerved but was unable to avoid the crash. Deputy Miller and Deputy D'Amore died of multiple injuries.
