Description: Deputy Sheriff Meyer was on duty in the Galveston County Jail when an unidentified man came in asking to see one of the inmates. The visitor immediately pulled out a pistol. A prison trustee attempted to wrestle the weapon away from the suspect when it discharged and struck Deputy Meyer in the abdomen. The unknown man and the inmate escaped.
