Description: Trooper Miller was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend a kidnapping suspect. Trooper Miller was responding to a pursuit of a suspect who had violated a protection from abuse order by kidnapping a child with a firearm. After a 40-mile pursuit the suspect stopped suddenly and opened fire upon officers. Trooper Miller was fatally shot in the neck, and another officer was wounded but survived. In July 2007 Trooper Miller and other members of the Pennsylvania State Police assisted the New York City Police Department in the capture of two of the men who had killed NYPD Officer Russell Timoshenko and wounded his partner on July 9, 2007, during a vehicle stop in Brooklyn.
