Description: Deputy Sheriff Mitchell was shot and killed while investigating a complaint at a residence. As Deputy Mitchell exited his patrol car to speak to the suspect, the suspect opened fire and shot Deputy Mitchell in the torso. Deputy Mitchell radioed for assistance and was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. The suspect committed suicide after a 17-hour standoff with law enforcement officers.
