Description: Detective Mitchell was fatally wounded in a gun battle with a suspicious person at a drug store. Another detective, W. Martin, was wounded in the gun battle at Latimer Street and Main Street. The suspect admitted killing Detective Mitchell and said he had intended to rob the store. The suspect died of wounds he received.
