Description: Prohibition Officer Matty was shot as he attempted to apprehend a mentally deranged individual who had escaped from a mental hospital. When Officer Matty attempted to enter the house with the suspect's father, he was shot and killed. Deputy Charles Hoke was also shot in this incident but survived. The suspect barricaded himself in his residence for thirteen days before being taken into custody.
