Description: Officer Mlakar was riding on the rear bumper of the paddy wagon (as was customary protocol then) when a bakery truck hit the vehicle and he was thrown to the pavement. Officer Mlakar was rushed to the hospital where he was treated for a fractured skull, fractured right leg, and internal injuries. He died eight hours later. The driver of the bakery truck was seen to be traveling at a high rate of speed and was charged with manslaughter.
